1) Soldiers Christmas Cards Correction

The address sent out in the last SSTN was incorrect.

Here's an address that does work:

2) Chrismon Tree Sequence?

I just inherited a Chrismon Tree this year. I know that the ornaments go in a specific order, but I'm not sure what.
Is there a book or something that I can get to tell me where to place the ornaments? Any help would be dearly appreciated.
Thanks,
~Shonda

--from SSTN: Hi Shonda,

Chrismons are not arranged in a specific order. However, if you were making a Jesse Tree, then you might want to arrange them in sequence. Check out the following pages to learn more about each:

3) New Year's Idea

At our church, for New Years, we have some members and children share a special remembrance, sing a song, do a dance, or do a little skit. I am having my Sunday School class do a song & dance Skit to "Get Up in Jesus' name. I plan on having the girls dress up with long skirts and poof slips with bonnets and become my choir while the boys will dress in a suit and become the preachers. Each boy will take a certain verse and sing it while the girls dance and go around the room telling everybody to GET UP in Jesus name.

5) New Year's Eve

We try to do something different each year, here's some things we have done:

1. We come together and spend time reflecting on the old year. Someone gives a brief synopsis of the year, month by month (youth trips, camps, etc.).
2. This is something we do every year - Power point presentation of the year (we take pictures all year long for this). This is something everyone looks forward to, as you forget all the neat things that have been done.
3. Anyone that wants to has an opportunity to speak, some detail important memories of the year.
4. Someone may read a poem or other inspirational reading (Dear Abby has a great one for the new year).
5. We've passed around a promise box and let each person draw out a scripture to be their scripture for the new year. If we do this then the next New Year's Eve we ask people to tell how this scripture impacted their life.
6. Write down 3 or 5 things you want to change/improve in your life (or write down goals to accomplish this year). Each person is given a paper and envelope. We either mail these at the mid way point of the year or have a service where we hand them out and ask people to tell what they have done to meet their goals.
7. Sometimes we pray the old year out and the new year in. Other times we count down and then give praise for the new year.
8. We end with food. We've done soup and salad some years, other times we have done finger foods or breakfast (pancakes, etc.).
