1) Mary’s Dream

Following is a wonderful story I heard just before Christmas at a Women's
Retreat.  I shared it with our church and next December I'd love to have
it put in our local newspaper.  Even if it changes the lives of only a few
people...this is worth passing on!

Mary’s Dream
I had a dream, Joseph.
I don’t understand it, not really, but I think it was about a birthday
celebration for our Son. I think that’s what it was all about. The people
had been preparing for it for about six weeks. They had decorated the
house and bought new clothes. They’d gone shopping many times and bought
elaborate gifts. It was peculiar, though, because the presents weren’t for
our Son. They wrapped them in beautiful paper and tied them with lovely
bows and stacked them under a tree. Yes, a tree, Joseph, right in their
house! They’d decorated the tree also. The branches were full of glowing
balls and sparkling ornaments. There was a figure on the top of the tree.
It looked like an angel might look. Oh, it was beautiful. Everyone was
laughing and happy. They were all excited about the gifts. But they gave
the gifts to each other, Joseph, not to our Son. I don’t think they even
knew Him. They never mentioned His name. Doesn’t it seem odd for people to
go to all that trouble to celebrate someone’s birthday if they don’t know
Him? I had the strangest feeling that if our Son had gone to this
celebration He would have been intruding. Everything was so beautiful,
Joseph, and everyone so full of cheer, but it made me want to cry. How sad
for Jesus--not to be wanted at His own birthday celebration. I’m glad it
was only a dream.

How terrible, Joseph, if it had been real!

Your sister in Christ,
Jody from Ishpeming, Michigan

2) Needing Prayer

Dear Wanda,
You poor thing! My heart went out to you because your pain is reaching out
to Christians everywhere who read this Network. I'm writing to you from
England, a beautiful part of England, down here in Cornwall.  I don't know
what scriptures to send you...sometimes words aren't enough. Maybe that's
why Jesus gives us the gift of tongues because human words fail us.  All I
can say is that something does happen to lift upset from you when you just
hand it over.  Perhaps not instantly when we need it but there comes a
time when you just know that some of the pain has been taken. So just ask.
You don't need clever words.
God hears your heart.  Also He never wastes a hurt.  Don't listen to the
people that steal your joy... even if they seem to be "good" Christian
people. Put your trust in Jesus. Just say His name and feel His hand stoke
the top of your head like a child. You are only a child in His eyes and He
wants you to feel better.
Christmas is a very stressful time. Women in particular set ourselves
goals and high expectations for the idyllic Christmas we see presented in
movies...All slightly out of focus, golden turkeys, immaculate children,
charming helpful husbands sipping egg nog and treating your Mother like a
Queen. .... The reality is often...steamy kitchens, hyper children full of
chocolate, bad tempered teenagers, mother in law in the way, husband can't
understand why you're so stressed, you close to tears and then the dog
eats the sausage meat stuffing!! Someone only has to say "Oh, I never buy
shop made cake, mince pies, Christmas pudding, , stuffing; I always make
my own" Then I have to pray for forgiveness for the irrational fury I
feel!  Do you want to punch those people who have all their cards written
in November?  I do!  And I want to scream at the people who make all their
own cards! So, my dear sister...Don't give yourself a hard time. God
doesn't want you to listen to criticism. He loves you exactly as you are.
The criticisms and sadness isn't coming from Him.  So don't listen to
anything that you know in your heart is a lie.  Remember, we don't know
when Our Lovely Lord was born but we choose to celebrate it at the darkest
part of the year.  So remember to say, "Happy Birthday Jesus"  light some
candles and sing "Happy Birthday to You,  To Jesus be true, May He guide
and Bless you, Happy Birthday to you"

Wanda, You are a Princess! You're a daughter of the King!  Wear something
coloured royal purple and smile! You are much loved!

3) Needing Prayer

Dear Wanda,

Ive been there and it does hurt but then I realized I wasn't doing it for
the others I was doing it because I enjoyed working and serving the Lord.
Sit back and watch, listen and believe it or not  the Lord will use you in
another way sometime we get burned out and it becomes an obligation we
don't go to church out of obligation we go to serve the Lord and praise
him.

I was in the hospital last year for 1 1/2 months and was suppose to help
with the Christmas play I couldn't but the others did. I got to see the
play and it was great they did a very good job and it was a meaning ful
play. The Lord blesses in a number of ways it may not be our way but it is
his birthday after all and it should reflect that, continue in pray for
family and friends to see Christ in you "for it is better to see a sermon
everyday than to hear one" put your ideas in to practice and see what can
happen.

Love your sister in Christ

Vivian

5) Valentine skit

I have a skit I have used at different times thru out the years.  It is
not necessarily a valentine skit but it is so funny.  The skit setting is
a doctor's office.  A receptionist sits at a desk or table busy on the
phone or doing paper work.  There are 4 or 5 empty chairs sitting near
her.   Soon one person (This person should be someone who can act really
well) comes up to the receptionist  scratching their legs severely.  This
person addresses the receptionist by saying, " I need to see the doctor, I
have this terrible itching."   The receptionist acknowledges them and
tells them to have a seat.  (They continue to scratch). After a moment
another person comes up to the the recept. having a different ailment,
such as a bad twitch in their neck. The same conversation takes place with
the recept. and this person sits beside the first.  After a moment of
noticing the person twitching the FIRST person not only continues to
scatch but begins the twitching as well.  The second person notices the
first person and the twitching seems to quit. They decide they don't need
to see the doctor and leaves, leaving the first person itching and
twitching.  Soon a third person comes in with a bad leg...which kicks out
uncontrollably.  The same conversation takes place and they too sit beside
the first person....The first person notices the leg and gradually their
leg begins to kick out along with the itching and twitching....the third
person looks at them with an odd look and decides they aren't as bad off
as they thought and leaves....You can have a fourth person come
in punching their arm out and a fifth  person come in sneezing (each time
the first person adds these ailments).....Finally the last  person comes
in (very pregnant) moaning and groaning about being in labor...they go up
to the receptionist having the same conversation as the others and they
sit beside the first person....the first person gradually stops all of the
other actions and puts both hands up in an offensive position and says, "I
don't think so...I'm out of here!!!" They leave very quickly leaving the
receptionist alone....The doctor comes out and says something like, "My
next patient?"  and the receptionist says, " I guess there's a magic cure
in the air today."  and they both leave....

Enjoy it...DAR, AL
