1) What Would Jesus Say & Do Game?

I recently printed out the WWJD – WWJS – What Would Jesus Do and Say Game and it mentions additional questions for the game. Do you have a list of additional questions to be used with the game? It would be nice to have more available for use with a large group or a longer playing time. If you have the list available would you please email it to me?

I receive your Sunday School Network newsletter and appreciate all that you provide on your web site. A few years ago I also purchased your lesson book on the Fruit of the Spirit. Your materials were high quality and provided everything necessary to teach the lessons. I used the lessons with one group of children and then another teacher used it for a Wednesday night group.

Thanks for all that you do. God bless you!

2) Bible Books Idea

Re. the Bible book name is written on the spine of plastic, VHS video containers and the synopsis of the Bible book is placed inside.

Another use of the "books of the Bible" take a section at a time, bring kids to front of class and hand them out - scrambled! Then let kids sitting come up and put them in order. (we covered cereal boxes years ago...the videos are a lot more compact!)

3) Bible Concentration Memory Game

Friend,

Here are some games that I have used over the last many years.

Bible Concentration and it is easy to make. Just use the names of the books of the Bible and make two copies of each. The lay them out face down, all mixed, and have the children chose one card to turn over and then another one and see if they have a match. They need to turn them back over if no match, making sure they place them in the same place. The kids with good memory will have a great time.

Good luck,

4) Resurrection Cookies & Lesson

To be made the evening before Easter.

Ingredients: 1c. whole pecans, 1 tsp. vinegar, 3 egg whites, pinch salt, 1c. sugar, zipper baggie, wooden spoon, tape, Bible.

What you do: Preheat oven to 300 BEFORE BEGINNING.

Place pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces.
Explain that after Jesus was arrested He was beaten by the Roman soldiers. Read John 19:1-3.

Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. vinegar into mixing bowl.
Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross he was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.

Add egg whites to vinegar. Eggs represent...

6) Expectations vs. Wants

This past weekend I attended a discipleship and evangelism seminar. One of the points stressed by the speaker is that as we grow in our faith, it is a natural outcome to tell others what we have learned--it is expected of us by God. As I thought about this, it occurred to me that I should be saying this to the children I teach. Rather than saying, "Jesus wants you to do this or that action or behavior," change it to, "Jesus expects you (and I expect you) to do this or that action or behavior. For example: This week Jesus expects you to be kind to someone in your school. Jesus expects you to tell someone about him. Jesus expects you to be honest. etc. Then follow up in the next class with how, or if, those expectations were reached.

Maybe its semantics, want vs. expect, but for me--and hopefully for the kids I teach--it has been a mind-shift. I look forward with expectation for what God will do in the lives of the children in my charge!
