* Great for
Valentine's Day or Friend Day
*
A
FUN, ACTIVE and YUMMY activity that helps to reinforce what
the students have been learning.
* Reinforces sharing as the early church
did.
Materials
Bag of Hershey hugs
3 or 4 2-inch Construction paper hearts (red and/or
pink)
Numbered Cube to roll like a dice (can make one from pint size milk
carton or use a large dice cube)
Preparation
Hide a bag of Hershey hugs all over your classroom
with one or two hugs hidden in each spot.
Hide three or four red construction paper hearts with the
word BONUS
printed on them. Prepare review questions with 2 levels of
difficulty from material previously studied. Can have one to
two questions per student.
- Categorize your questions with two levels of difficulty.
Ex. - Questions for the
numbers ONE - THREE are easiest, and questions for numbers FOUR
- SIX are a little harder.
BE SURE TO HAVE THREE OR FOUR REALLY EASY QUESTIONS TO ASK ANY NEWCOMERS
SO THEY DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT NOT KNOWING THE MATERIAL. GUESTS MAY ASK
THE STUDENT WHO BROUGHT THEM TO HELP THEM WITH ANSWERS!
Have three or four BONUS
questions reserved to use after the first hug hunt. This
would be a good place to include any memory
verses the kids have been working on. You could leave out a word or
short phrase and have them fill in the blank for the question.
How To Play
One at a time, ask each student to roll the CUBE before they are asked
their question. Ask all students questions before the hunt begins. The number they roll is the number of kisses they may find, IF they
answer their question correctly (this number also tells the teacher which level of difficulty to pick for
the question asked). If the students answer partially correct, reduce the number of hugs by
one, with them finding no less than one hug each. If the student
cannot answer the question, he/she may still find a hug! Continue till all players have answered a question each, OR TWO, IF
CLASS IS SMALL.
BEGIN the HUNT!
Tell the students that there are BONUS hearts hidden as well and they
may take ONE if they find one.
When you find the number of hugs you are allowed, return to your seat.
When all have found their number, have the students with the BONUS
hearts stand up.
Ask them a bonus question each. If they answer correctly, they may
participate in the next hunt.
HUNT AGAIN!
Have the students who answered the bonus questions correctly look for more
of the Hidden Hugs. Give them only 20 seconds. When time is called
they quickly return to their seats.
There should be PLENTY of hugs still hidden, so allow the class to
find them. Give them a minute or two until you are sure all of the hugs
are found.
BECAUSE WE ARE FRIENDS AND ALL BELONG TO CHRIST, ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO SHARE a
HUG with their friends in class SO
THAT ALL HAVE A SMALL HANDFUL. ENJOY!
