Bible Point
BEE a BEE-liever and BEE-come a worker BEE for Jesus!

Attention getter tip: Tell the kids to listen for all the BEE words as you present this lesson. Every time they hear a BEE word, have them BUZZZZZ loudly. When you say a BEE word emphasize it and pause a bit to give the kids time to buzzzzz! Practice buzzing before you begin.

Hello kids! Today I want to speak with you about BEE-lieving in God. The Bible says, "BEE-lieve in God and you will BEE saved." (See Romans 10:9-10) When we BEE-lieve in Jesus, we are trusting that he alone can save us. (Ephesian 2:8-10 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.")

God's salvation is a free gift; and just like any other gift, if you have to work to BEE good enough or to BEE-have a certain way in order to get the gift, it is no longer a gift...but it is something you've earned or deserve to get. No one deserves God's gift of salvation. In fact, the Bible says, that all have sinned and have gone their own way (Romans 3:23 and Isaiah 53:6). Even so, God knows your heart and he still loves you. He loves you so much that he sent his only Son to die in your place. Why? BEE-cause when you do something wrong, you are punished for it. God says that when you sin, the punishment is death and everyone sins (See Romans 6:23). But here's the greatest news, the Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and BEE-lieve in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will BEE saved. For it is with your heart that you BEE-lieve and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will BEE saved" (Romans 10:9-10, 13).

Once you BEE-come a BEE-liever, God has special work for you to do. The Bible says, "Don't just BEE hearers of the Word, but BEE doers of the Word." (See James 1:22) We must BEE busy showing and telling others about Jesus' great love for them.

Now all you BEEs out there, how can you BEE busy showing and telling others about Jesus? (Let the kids tell ways they can show God's love to others. -- See Galatians 5:22-26. Remind the kids that apart from God they cannot BEE the kind of person God wants them to BEE.) You must first ask God to save you, then he will give you the ability and the power to BEE his faithful follower (See Ephesians1:19).

Editor's Note: Emmalea Butler, a faithful visitor to the site and Sunday School Network, was inspired to write a new lesson and poem to accompany the series. Here's what Emmalea had to say:

"I Thought I would share the opening poem I wrote for our first "Buggie for Jesus" class. We will use our antennae at the beginning of our JR Church program each week. The first week, we chose to highlight NOT to "BUG" our parents. The Scripture we used was: 'Children obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right'" Ephesians 6:1.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Do you want to BEE BUGGY for JESUS? Well, then, put on your Buggy Antennae and your listening ears! Whenever you hear the word BEE---Let's all BUZZZZZ together. B z z z z z z z z z z z z z z

I want to BEE like JESUS!
I want to BEEcome honest, kind, and strong.
If I BEEhave and obey my parents I won't BEE doing things all wrong!
If I fail to BEE listening, I will BEE missing something good.
If I BEElieve the Bible, I will BEE doing as I should!
So I'll BEE bizzz-y everyday.
I'll BEE very kind to others.
I can BEE strong and honest.
And obey my Father and my Mother!

When bees sting they hurt others and themselves too. Our bees are good bees. They have no stingers! I want to BEE like Jesus! He doesn't want Bee-lievers to hurt anyone.

Buzzing BEE Hive Game

Object of the game: (Explain before playing: Bees tag wasps so they can become a bee and live in the Bee Hive. The bees represent BEElievers, the wasps represent unBEElievers, the BEE hive represents Heaven.)

Set up: You need a large playing area, and a large group of kids. If possible set boundaries, (cones, markers), at the four corners of the playing area.

How To Play: Designate 1-3 players to begin the game as the BEES. (If you have a lot of players, begin with 3 bees.) The wasps line up on one side of the field. At the GO, the wasps try to 'fly' across the field to the opposite side. The BEES must make a buzzing sound while attempting to tag the wasps. If wasps are tagged they become BEES and attempt to tag other wasps before they can make it across to the other side of the field. Continue to play the game until all the wasps become BEES! Play as long as you like!

Bible Point: Once you're finished playing the game, have the kids sit in a large, tight circle to represent the Bee Hive, then explain the Bible application: As I mentioned to you before, the BEES represented BEElievers - that means those who are trusting and relying only on Jesus to take them to Heaven. The wasps represented those who are not BEElievers - that means those who are trusting in some other way to get them to heaven. Some people think that by being good enough, or praying a certain way, or doing enough "good things" in life, they will be made right with God. But the Bible tells us the way to God is through Jesus. There is no other way! (Read: Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" John 14:6. The Bible also says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good!" Psalm 34:8.) Kids, if Jesus is good, and he is, then we need to tell others about him! (Read: "Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" Matthew 28:18-20).

So remember, let us BEE busy telling others about Jesus so they too can BEEcome BEElievers and go to heaven! (Pray: Thank you Jesus that you have provided a way to go to heaven. Help us to always trust in you and BEE your faithful followers. Amen.)
