1) Bought With A Price

Theme: Gospel Message
Objects: picture of a king and a picture of Jesus
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 19b-20 “You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

A long time ago there was a very powerful king living in the land. He was the richest man in the land and everything he wanted, he could have. Everyone around him did exactly as he told them because after all…he was the king. The problem was that his child was always getting into trouble. One day, this child was arrested and going to be put to death for his crimes. The king could have put a stop to it, but he did something very interesting instead. He...

2) Hello? Jesus? Are You There?

Sometimes I miss you. When we aren’t here at church, there are times I would like you to know that I am thinking of you, or I have something that I would like to tell you. If I hear you are sick or sad, I would like to cheer you up. And if I’m not feeling well, I would just like to hear your voice. Since you don’t live in my house, how can I get in touch with you...You know what? I know Jesus wants to get in touch with us too! HE doesn’t want...

3) Growing Up God's Way

You know, I’ve noticed that you have all really been growing. I knew some of you since you were babies. You are sure not babies anymore, are you?

I can actually remember one of the first things that made me realize that I was really growing. One day I reached up on tippy toes to turn on the bathroom sink faucet – and I really didn’t have to tippy toe anymore! I felt SO big!!! Tell me some of the things that show you that you are growing too. (Give time for the children to respond.)

Aren’t you glad you are growing? It really wouldn’t be that fun to stay a baby, would it? I’ve been thinking that one reason God sent Jesus to earth as a baby, was so little children could...

4) Nothing Like A Comforter

Do you have a special blanket or stuffed toy that makes you feel better when you were hurt, sad, or lonely? [Share a personal story or perhaps something about your child.]

When a baby cries or a toddler is fussy, you might hear someone say, “They need to be “comforted.”

How does your special “comforter” make you feel better? [Allow children time to respond.]

If you really think about it, that special object has a memory that goes along with it. Most of our memories of feeling “comforted” were from such an early age that we don’t have words to describe what was going on when our blanket or toy made us feel comforted. We just KNOW – when we have it – everything is better.

God KNEW that...

5) Pentecost Activity?

We've always done special activities for Pentecost (decorations, birthday cake for the church etc.).
We've used SSTN's Pentecost twirler, too (http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/curr-dwn-Pentecost-craft.html).

We'd like to expand this to show how the ordinary way (in our denomination) to receive the Spirit is through baptism and confirmation.

I thought there would be lots of material on this, but I can't find anything. Has anyone else done this?
The idea is for a multi-general program.

Thanks.
Anne L. Haehl--I tell stories.
