What was the first job God gave to
Adam in the Garden?

(The answer is in this newsletter)

1)
SSTN 8th Anniversary...Rated #2 in Christian Education!

On January 10, 2000, SSTN was launched.
We began with 65 teachers enrolled and are now over 16,000 members strong! And the really amazing statistic according to Alexa.com is, SundaySchoolNetwork.com is now rated #2 in all of Christian Education websites. PTL!

It has been a real blessing getting to know so many of you by reading your thoughts and opinions! What an amazing journey! Whether or not God allows the network to continue in 2008 or not, is yet to be seen. But I am willing to do what the LORD leads me to do.

Now, as I've done on anniversaries past is to post the two questions from the first SSTN. I look forward to reading your responses for 2008:

1) "Is there one thing that you do each Sunday, or in a midweek class, that you consider very important and successful to your ministry?"

2) Is there anything that you do successfully to recruit more children, youth or adults to your class?

Remember, the success or failure of SSTN rests on all of us. Unless all of us share our questions, thoughts and opinions, there will be nothing for me to moderate and send back out to you.

I would ask that you continue to pray for me and this ministry. Pray that I would know and do God's will, and that God would continue to inspire me with creative thought for children's ministers. Pray also that if it is God's will to continue, that he would provide the necessary resources to keep SSTN and the website afloat. And if not, that he would make that clear too.

Blessings to you and yours. Happy New Year!

Sarah Keith <><

P.S. see the 2008 contest, below!

2) SSTN 2008 Contest...win three books and more!

Contest Objective:

Find all nine of the "2008 Trumpets" (left) which are hidden within the pages of SundaySchoolNetwork.com
*. Contest begins 1/10/08 and will end when the first two people discover all nine of the "2008 Trumpets". Only SSTN subscribers may participate.

The first person to find the nine trumpets will receive three books: "The BE-Attitudes for Adults", your choice of any one of our e-books and a sweet children's book entitled, "Lucille Nadine Alexander's Birthday".

The second person to find the nine trumpets will receive one e-book of his or her choice.

To help you find the trumpets, read the Bible clues on the following page:
http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/clues.html. When you have located the nine trumpets, email 2008@SundaySchoolNetwork.com to tell us where you found them. Have fun!

P.S. You may invite your friends to participate, but they will need to subscribe to SSTN first. Click here to email them and then point them to the following page to sign on: http://www.SundaySchoolNetwork.com/page3.html

* The trumpet in the online newsletter is not one of the nine.

3) New Year's Goals & Rewards Piņata

Check out this fun, goal setting craft idea. You'll find it listed in the "Crafts - Holidays" section at:

4)
Valentine Party: Loved Beyond Measure?

We would like to have a Valentine Party for our children and their parents. I'm looking for games that are family friendly. I would appreciate any ideas or links. Our children will be ages 4-12. The theme is Loved Beyond Measure. Small measuring cups are our party favors filled with candy.

God Bless,
Margaret

5)
Bible Jeopardy @ Watch Night Service

This is such a wonderful game. We are playing this at our Watch Night Service this year. It would be great if you would add more categories.

Thanks.
Have a Blessed New Year!

--from SSTN:
Great idea! We'd love to have more feedback and additions to the game. For anyone interested in the Bible Jeopardy game, you will find it in the Bible Games section at: http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/free_stuff.html
Feel free to send in your additions to the game!

Happy New Year,
Sarah Keith <><

6)
Twelve Days of Christmas - Snopes Article

I read the Snopes article on the subject of 12 days of Christmas. Because snopes says it is not true, does that really mean that it is not? Actually what I have read it said "there was no substantive evidence that it is not true" This is a secular site, the world is trying to bury the truth about the faith of Jesus Christ. Why should they be any different? Just a thought.

) Jesus is my best friend - Youth Lessons?

Can you give me any suggestion if I want to teach my Sunday school children especially for Youth ( 14 - 17 years old) the theme, Jesus is my best friend. Thank you

Regards,
Hanny

--from SSTN: there are some great "Teen Ministry" resources in our Bookstore section at:
http://www.sundayschoolnetwork.com/bookstore.html

8)
The Holy Spirit - being born of it

I began to ponder some more about the Holy Spirit and how it overshadowed Mary (Luke 1:35).

Let the Holy Spirit overshadow us then that we might be born of it again, for each time I think of it, I seem to find something new.

--from SSTN: Thank you for that thought! Some more good verses to meditate upon are:
Ephesians 1:13, 1 Corinthians 6:19, Titus 3:3-8.

The answer to this issue's Bible trivia is "Name all living creatures". Genesis 2:19
