<>< <>< <>< TODAY'S SSTN POSTINGS: <>< <>< <><

1) God's the "boss" ideas

These verses (Psalm 99:1-4) talk about God being king - you could make
crowns, being sure to emphasize that God is the king (not the child
wearing the crown :)

They talk about praising God - so use music (any songs they know) to
praise Him. If you have rhythm instruments available, use the instruments
with the songs - have a praise parade!

If God's the boss, then we need to obey, so you could play a game to
practice obeying.  "teacher, may I?" perhaps. Or one of my group's
favorites: everyone has a balloon. When the music is playing (or lights
are on, or whatever signal you want to use), they try to keep their
balloon in the air, batting it with their hands, head, etc. When music
stops, they immediately catch their balloon and freeze. See if they can
get quicker at catch & freeze as you play it again.

That's all I can think of right now.

Linda

3) Resurrection Cookies

This is a great recipe to teach your children the real story of Easter.
Teach them that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Savior and He is not dead. He
has risen!

Grab your apron and let's get started...

See the rest of the idea in the "F-r-e-e Stuff" - Yummy Devotions section

Participate in a short  pastors appreciation program.
Any ideas with a short skit, songs, poems etc.

6) Craft Link not working

The link which was posted in the last SSTN may not have worked correctly
because the link grabbed the period at the end of the sentence.

Here's the link, minus the period, to send to your friends:

8) Excuse me, are you Jesus?

Wow - this one really makes me think!

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales
convention in Chicago . They had assured their wives that they would be
home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner. Hurrying to catch the
plane with tickets and briefcases, one of the salesmen inadvertently
kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew
everywhere.  Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach
the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding.

ALL BUT ONE! He paused, took a deep breath, got in touch with his
feelings, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose
apple stand had been overturned.

He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one
of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and
explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal
where the apples were all over the terminal floor.

He was glad he did.

The 16 year old girl vendor was totally blind! She was softly crying,
tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time
helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about
her, no one stopping or caring about her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples,
put them back on the table, and helped organize her display. As he did
this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised;
these he set aside in another basket.

When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl,
"Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you okay?"
She nodded through her tears. He continued on with, "I hope we didn't
spoil your day too badly."

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl
called out to him, "Mister...." He paused and turned to look back into
those blind eyes. She continued, "Are you Jesus?"

He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made his
way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing
about in his soul: "Are you Jesus?"

Do people mistake you for Jesus? That's our destiny, is it not? To be so
much like Jesus that people cannot tell the difference as we live and
interact with a world that is blind to His love, life, and grace.

If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would.
Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church.
It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.

We are the apple of His eye, even though we, too, have been bruised
by a fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked us up on
a hill called Calvary, paying in full for our damaged fruit.

May He bless you as you represent Him to others!

9) God's The "Boss"

Regarding Patricia's posting about "God's the Boss" activities for 3-6
year olds...

Any sort of "Rules" game like Simon Says, Red Light - Green Light, Mother
May I, etc. would be perfect; just change the words to reflect God
(instead of Simon, Mother, etc.)!

Also, there is a great echo song called "The Lord Reigns" that would be a
good song for little ones since it is just repeating line by line.  Here
is a link to the lyrics:  http://www.worship.co.za/tfh/tfh-0407.asp

Blessings,
Caroline
